Day-01-Amsterdam
Wednesday - Amsterdam.
Arrived in Amsterdam. One degree, with windchill about -5.
Taken to hotel with a function room provided for the day. Coffee and nibbles, then out for a walk. Found a canal cruise and had look up and down some of the canals. All the houses
and buildings at least three stories, most more. The old town blocks are six metres wide. Makes for tall very thin houses. Most have pulley blocks hung over the footpath. Any modest size object has to be hoisted up and pulled in through the windows. The staircases are too small to get anything up from the ground floor. Then caught a 'Hopon - Hopoff' bus and had a ride round the city by road. Finally hopped-off, nearly froze as we were still in the clothes we left Perth in. Back to hotel for lots of coffee and warmth. At 3PM our tour bus brought us out to our ship. It's very nice, but amazing how creative photography can make a suite look huge. If the size of the bed was reduced it would leave room for a chair. As it stands the two chairs are on the glass enclosed balcony, which doesn't participate in the cabin heating program. Had tea and in bed by 8:30.
