Day-03-Antwerp

Friday - Antwerp
Overnight we arrived at Antwerp, but due to traffic congestion, we couldn't berth until about 9AM. This messed the day's schedule up. We were up and about at 7 as we were heading off at 8 to Bruges. We left at 9:30 and our bus took us down there. About an hour drive through the countryside. We hiked around the old town. It's a living museum. It has some amazing buildings from when it was the richest town in Northern Europe in the 17th century. All still standing.
Temperature much the same, with a freezing wind, got up to 2deg. Had coffee and croisant, visited a chocolate shop and then assembled into a mob for a very brisk hike back to where our bus was parked. A head count showed we had lost one member of the party. Much delay, but she contacted the police and they delivered her back to the bus. Back to the ship. Turned the aircon up to 30 and down to the lounge for a brandy and coffee while our room warmed up a bit. The cruise ships are all much the same design and one ties up alongside the wharf and another one or two tie up parallel. The passengers then walk
either over or through the intermediate ships to get ashore. We were outside this morning, but a little while ago we moved out, the one against the wharf sailed and we slipped into that slot. All very neatly done, no fuss. Think we will have dinner and an early night tonight.
