Day-10-Rüdesheim
Friday - Rüdesheim
Returned to Koblenz about 6:30AM and did a right turn to go up the Rhine. Cruising up quietly along castle spotting. Only intermittent light rain. There are more castles, in one state of repair or another, along here than you can count. Some were pretty spectacular. The towns along the riverside are all really well kept. No sign of anything that doesn't have sparkling paint work, or that looks untidy. In the afternoon we went and visited
Siegfried’s Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum. It was quite amazing. The private collection has hundreds of items, 80% of which work. They were all restored by the owner. Some of them must have taken years to make. The guide let some of them play for us. One designed for a music hall just about blew us out of the smallish room it was in. Wandered back shipwards and I bought a new hat. Suits me very well. Keeps the rain off a bit as
well. After dinner we had a local come on board and give us a zither recital. He was very, very good. How anyone can play one of them is beyond me.
