Day-12-Kehl-Strassburg
Docked in Kehl this morning. Not raining.
Bus trip accross the river to Strassburg, France.
Went up to inspect the Alsace wine region. Drove through ancient French
villages with streets about a foot wider than the bus. I have developed
great respect for european bus drivers, they are amazing the places they can take a fifty seater tour bus. We visited a small winemaker who is really passionate about his wine. He was very interesting to listen to. Down to the cellars, which date from 1676. Had a tasting and were then allowed to buy a bottle if we felt inclined. He had some very nice white's at the price of ten euros. Margaret river doesn't compare very well.
Back to bus and visit an ancient town, for a brisk walk. Met a stream of
people all walking with three french sticks. Followed the line and found a
little bakery with many customers. Bought french sticks. Came back to the boat and had french bread, Edam cheese, Black Forrest ham and Alsace wine for lunch. The wine bottle won't fit in the fridge, so may have to drink it this afternoon sitting in the sun watching the river go by. Looks like a good way to while away a Sunday afternoon in Germany / France.
