Day-22-Zermatt
April 24th - Wednesday - Zermatt
Day fine and sunny.
Looked out the window this morning and there was the Matterhorn bathed in bright sun. This morning we went up to talk to the Matterhorn up close. We visited 'The Matterhorn Glacier Paradise' at 3,883m. This was via the highest cable car in Europe. It was a fine sunny day and on a par with the trip last week. The mountains were really stunning. The view of the Matterhorn was amazing. It is a really big hill and we were only a couple of km's away. Had my photo taken with a St.Bernard, complete with barrel. Hundreds of people up there skiing. We saw three guys that will either die or have to be rescued this afternoon. They had gone well off the beaten track, across a glacier and looked like they were going to try and ski down it. Had a least a two hundred foot drop in front and breaking up. There wasn't any other way down. Had lunch at McDonalds. Bought a couple of things to bring home and a bottle of red for this afternoon. Off to Geneva in the morning.
