Day-23-Geneva
April 25th - Thursday - Geneva
Day fine and sunny.
Training. We left Zermatt 8ish. Mem managed to scab a lift with the luggage truck driver and got taken up to the ticket office, while the rest had to walk themselves up a gentle hill to catch the train. Normal train over country we had traversed before until we changed trains at Visp onto a high speed train which we clocked at 161km/h so we presume it travels at 100 miles per hour. We travelled down the Rhone Valley past lots of
vineyards and down the side of Lake Geneva into Geneve (which is the way the Swiss spell it), with a quick walk across the road to the Hotel. A short walk across the bridge to the English Garden to see the 'Floral Clock'. Short look about and then a bus tour around the city. Lovely solid old buildings in the old city and then out to where the UN has a large precinct. Lots of old and lots more 'flash', money is no problem in that area. We were going to go for a lake cruise, but back too late. Wandered down the street and had a lebanese tea. Might be an early night. Off to Lucerne in the morning.
